100mW wind farm under construction in rural Pingyao

A 100mW wind power project in Zhukeng town, Pingyao county, has recently started hoisting equipment into place, laying a solid foundation for the operation of power generation units.

The project, with an investment of 800 million yuan ($125.02 million) from Jinneng Clean Energy Wind Power, a Shanxi company engaged in the clean energy industry, is a key project for the county’s industrial transformation.

The ecofriendly and safe power generation units will reduce strain on the power grid and help relieve the impact from local thermal power stations used in the past –– improving the environment of Pingyao and helping improve the structure of the local energy industry, according to Zhao Guang, an employee of Jinneng Clean Energy Wind Power

The wind farm, with power generation capacity of 100mW, is designed to sell 226.69 million kWh to power supply companies each year, allowing more Pingyao residents to enjoy the benefits of clean energy.

Starting in April 2017, the project is expected to generate more than 15 million yuan in profits and taxation for the country upon completion in August 2018.
