Charming Jinzhong and Pingyao
A confluence of religious beliefs

Pingyao county on the Fenhe River Plain has been a hub for trade, transport and culture in North China since ancient times. This has facilitated the early dissemination of different beliefs throughout the county. Many ancient Taoist, Buddhist and Confucius temples still exist in the area, demonstrating local religious development over thousands of years.

Zhenguo Temple was first built in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960) period and is located in the northern part of Pingyao county.
