Taigu county which has a population of 320,000 and an area of 1,050 square kilometers is in the northeast of Jinzhong, Shanxi province.

As a historical site with a history dating back over 1400 years, Taigu county is the hometown of many historical figures and Shanxi merchants, as well as being the production area for many famous traditional Chinese medicines.

Located in the core area of the Taiyuan Economic Circle, Taigu county's economy is dependent on five industries including medicine, metal castings and food. There are four industrial parks in the county with the provincial economic and technological development area currently under construction.

The county has also been committed to tourism development in recent years. It is a national area for cultural protection and a model county for greenery.
