Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, known as the "Root of Shanghai," invites children and teenagers to learn about the city's history, which dates back 5,000 years.

Guangfulin was a cultural, political, economic, and transportation center in ancient times. Its original surroundings have been preserved at the park so that tourists can explore the area's authentic rural scenery, agriculture and ecological culture.

Experts have identified Guangfulin culture as a new archaeological culture based on excavations conducted between 1959 and 2006.

Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park and the parent-child tourism service provider Ant Child-Parent recently launched the “Little Archaeologist” activity that consists of a half-day field trip for families.

Participants will play the role of an archaeologist during the activity. During their trip, they will try to find the answers to archaeological questions, as well as learn how to use professional archaeological tools and unearth special cultural artifacts.

During their tour of the exhibition halls with guides, participants can learn about some representative relics of the Guangfulin people and how they used them in the ancient times, observe the prehistoric houses, and learn about the progress in archaeology over the years.

The activity is suitable for children above the age of six. The price is 298 yuan ($47.13) for a parent and a child. The activity will be held on the following four dates: March 26, April 17, May 22 and June 19.

Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park is a must-visit attraction at Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort, as it offers visitors a chance to explore the origins of Shanghai and the city's ancient way of life through a series of well-preserved relics.

In 2020, the historical site was recognized as a 4A scenic area, with 5A being the highest rating in China. It is located in the southern area of the resort in Shanghai's Songjiang district, about 30 kilometers away from downtown Shanghai.

It simulates the city's ancient way of life and exhibits its rich collection of artifacts from the ancient inhabitants living in the area 5,000 years ago.

Since June 1, 2021, the park has opened its public area for free while some venues in the park still require tickets.

Major venues in the park include Guangfulin Cultural Museum, Guangfulin Archaeological Museum, Chen Zilong's Memorial Hall, Fulin Tower, Impressions of Fulin, Wooden Art Exhibition Hall, Antique Pottery Museum, Zhiye Temple, Sanyuan Palace, Town God's Temple, Temple of Guan Yu and Duoyun Academy of Classical Learning.
