Late autumn is harvest season at Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort.

Orange trees are loaded with tasty fruit, which boast juicy pulp and abundant nutritional elements, especially vitamin C, while ripe persimmons also cover the branches of trees and induce visitors to pick them.

There are many other fruits and melons waiting for people to pick.

People can also visit the garden's display greenhouse. Covering 12,608 square meters, the display greenhouse has three parts: a tropical flower house, a sand plant house, and a rare plants house.

With mountains as a background and a natural barrier, the tropical flower house has more than 600 species of plants, such as traveller's trees, frangipani and talipot palms.

The sand plant house imitates environments in Australia, Africa and the United States, showcasing more than 1,000 species of sand plants, including Namibia's welwitschia (Welwitschia bainesii), the saguaro cactus tree (Carnegiea gigantea), and the pencil cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli).

The rare plant house includes a life zone and an evolution zone. The former mainly depicts how plants survive in complex and varied natural environments, while the latter showcases the evolution of plants from lower to higher species. In addition, more than 1,400 species of plants are on display at the rare plant house.

Tickets:

60 yuan ($8.4) per person for entrance to Chenshan Botanical Garden;
