Bamboo shoots cultural festival gets underway

Visitors dig up bamboo shoots during the bamboo shoots cultural festival at Tianma Mountain Garden in Sheshan National Forest Park.

The Tianma Mountain Garden in Sheshan National Forest Park has launched its 15th bamboo shoots cultural festival from March 28 to April 6.

Visitors can buy tickets at the garden's designated outlet and participate in the themed event to dig up and sample bamboo shoots for an hour. The number of people is limited to 50 each time, with two sessions every day starting from 10 am and 1.30 pm.

The ticket price is 100 yuan per person, 150 yuan for an adult and a child, and 200 yuan for two adults and a child

Designated hotels in Sheshan National Tourist Resort have rolled out various bamboo shoot-related gourmet food for visitors to sample under a discounted price, including the Meridien Sheshan Shanghai, Sheshan Forest Hotel, Lan Sun Mountain Villa and Peach Orchard Farm Villa. Visitors are also able to experience making one free dish at these hotels.

Visitors with festival tickets are also able to enter Xiaokunshan Park freely and enjoy a half price discount on entry to the Moon Lake Sculpture Park.

Initiated since 2002, the bamboo shoots cultural festival has become a typical spring event for Shanghai residents, with its popularity growing year on year.
