The four musicians – two violin players Zhang Yiying and Zhu Yue, a viola player Wang Xiaojie and a cellist, Wan Xu – were invited to give the performances.

A veritable symphony of classics was performed for the audience including Mozart's Divertimento in D Major and Johann Strauss II's Blue Danube. Music composed by Joe Hisaishi for Hayao Miyazaki's animated masterpiece Castle in the Sky was also performed. Other pieces included Leroy Anderson's Blue Tango, and musical scores by Chinese composers such as the Butterfly Lovers violin concerto by Chen Gang and He Zhanhao.
