The Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Kingdom, located beside the Oriental Pearl Tower, is a vast insect museum featuring live insects, amphibians and reptiles.
The museum, known as a national popular science education base, is open to tourists. Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, it has more than 300 species of living insects and specimens. Visitors can enjoy various sections including the ecological park, the insect gallery, the snake and python area and the frog area. They can also enjoy the karst cave area of amphibians and reptiles, and the experience area of rainforest as well as the shrimp appreciation area. The shrimp appreciation area and the insect gallery, opened in 2012, are most popular among tourists.
