Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, started a promotion activity for local modern agricultural industry, on June 25.

Hosted by the city's publicity department and agricultural bureau, the activity is part of a move to revitalize rural areas.

In recent years, Yantai has cultivated five pillar industries, including grain and oil, fruit, vegetables, livestock, and aquatic products, according to Bai Guoqiang, director of Yantai agricultural bureau.

One of the prime examples is the Yantai apple, which is a golden brand of Chinese fruit and a representative of Yantai agricultural products, which is often used at international-level events, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit held in Qingdao from June 9 to 10.

The city is currently home to 13 national-level leading agricultural industrialized companies and 72 provincial-level ones, boasting enterprises such as Andre Group, the world's largest apple deep processing manufacturer, and Luhua Group, the country's largest edible oil production enterprise.

In addition, Yantai has implemented an export-oriented development strategy, with more than 80 leading agricultural companies setting up offices in over 60 countries and regions.

With world-class standards, Yantai is currently leading the country's modern agricultural sector.
