The first bonded imported craftworks auction in West China came to a close at the Midwest Inland Port Financial Town in Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park on April 15.

A total of 68 items were auctioned on the spot bringing in a turnover of 810,000 yuan ($129,083.67). The earnings from two items were donated to two poverty-stricken families by two Japanese friends, who in return were granted with certificates of honor by ITL Park for their kindness.

The craftworks were porcelain Kutaniyaki and Wajima lacquerware produced at Ishikawa-ken – home of Japanese craftworks. The two types of artistic styles were introduced to Japan in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), and by integrating local culture it has been molded into today's form.

The event was an attempt to promote cultural exchanges and cultural industries along the Belt and Road by making good use of resources in the free trade zone, the ITL Park and the bonded zone. It was also the first time for the zone to arrange the exhibition and auction activities in customs clearance model by which the craftworks were directly transported to the Xi'an Comprehensive Bonded Zone through sea-railway transportation and the enterprise could pay fewer customs duties, helping improve efficiency and save time and cost.

The auction was hosted by Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group and the administrative committee of ITL Park with the support of Shaanxi Culture Industry International Co Ltd and the promotion association for cultural exchange between China and Japan in Ishikawa-ken.

Participants to the auction included officials and representatives from China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Zone, ITL Park, Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group, Xi'an Customs, and guests from Komatsu of Japan and inheritors of Kutaniyaki.
