Wang went on to cite other achievements such as recombinant human insulin and 350-km/h high-speed trains and concluded, "Technological innovation is rooted in our DNA".

According to Bayinchaolu, the head of the Jilin delegation and the provincial Party secretary, Jilin has a larger percentage of researchers and college students out of the total population than other places and is home to more than 60 research institutes.

Another NPC delegate, Li Yuanyuan, who is president of Jilin University, added, "We need to put our scientific developments to industrial use, for the optimal use of innovations," then suggested that they extend their industrial chain in optics, bio-manufacture, and grain processing for greater economic development.
