Young couples exchange vows on Chinese Qixi Festival

The Shangri-La Hotel in the city of Changchun, Jilin province decided to make things more enjoyable for young couples wanting to tie the knot by organizing a party for them on the traditional Chinese Qixi Festival, by cooperating with four prominent wedding planners.

The idea was to help young couples express their love and make their wedding dreams come true with a grand ceremony on the evening of Qixi, by creating a perfectly romantic environment at the city’s business center where the loving couples could exchange their vows. And, hundreds of people were on hand to witness the event.

Qixi Festival is often referred to as Chinese Valentine's Day. It actually comes on July 7 of the Chinese lunar calendar and is intended to commemorate the legendary Cowherd ("Niulang") and Weaver Girl ("Zhinv"). This year that date falls on Aug 20.
