The Changbai Mountains Forest Music Festival has opened in the city of Changchun, Jilin province, on June 14, simultaneously with the Jilin Citizen Culture Festival that runs through December, with plenty of events that keep coming to brighten up the lives of locals during the hot summer.

The opening ceremony saw an exhibition of the award winning works of the international Changbai Mountain photography competition who are expected to show the beauty of the mountain and to get people excited about the music festival, while folk artists displayed their craftwork, or paintings and calligraphic works.

The same day saw some art seminars, dramas, traditional music performances, a symphony concert and other gatherings in the city's libraries, art galleries, on its squares, in cafes, and at art clubs.

The festival itself will have culture contests, more exhibitions and lectures, and cultural exchanges and at the same time, music performances, dancing, dramas, photography, calligraphy, readings, and creative designs across the province.
