When "The Transformers” animation was a real hit in China in the 1980s, Liu, a Changchun resident, was just a school kid back then.

"I was a big fan of cartoons and would die for a transformers’ sculpture of my own back then," the Changchun’er recalled his childhood memory.

"But my family couldn’t afford to."

Recently, Mr. Liu’s dream came true. He simply made a transformers toy of  his own.[Photo/TheNewCulturaNewspaper]

"I like Optimus Prime, who is kind, brave and honest, so I simply made a sculpture of him," said Liu.

The toy, 65 cm in height, is made in Liu’s spare time. When explaining how he made it, Liu said, "I spent a couple of nights doing research online to see how Optimus Prime looks, and then used another three days to produce the toy."

In commenting on his own piece of work, Liu humbly said, "the one I’ve made is too clumsy, and big, so I’m going to make a small and delicate one just for kids."
