The 2020 Yonglian Food Festival opened on April 1 in Yonglian village, Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou. It will run until May 5.

Catering businesses on the village’s food street will offer a wide array of local specialties and discounts to attract tourists.

To ensure the safety and health of tourists, the organizer has given top priority to preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

All catering businesses taking part in the festival have passed the local government’s food safety examination and have promised to strictly implement epidemic prevention measures during the outbreak.

In addition to regular disinfection, the organizer will also strictly control the number of tourists. The scenic area will receive no more than 3,000 visitors per day.

The Suzhou Jiangnan Farming Culture Park located in the village also reopened to the public the same day after closing for reconstruction in 2019.

The park has introduced a group of new members, including kangaroos, peacocks and white deer, and several new entertainment facilities, such as mini trains for sightseeing.

A firework show will also be staged in the evening.
