The annual Zhangjiagang Yangtze river culture and art festival is set to be held in Zhangjiagang, a port city in East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 1, local media reported.

Accordingly, a total of 10 large-scale cultural activities will be staged in next month. Besides, the business trade week will also be held with 17 business activities. The Yangtze River is the largest river in China and considered to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. It cultivated Bashu culture, which can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). Besides, Chu culture and Wuyue culture also prospered along the river.

Located at the southern bank of the Yangtze River, Zhangjiagang is nourished with Yangtze River culture and dedicated to cultural and art development in recent years.

This year's event includes the seventh Zhangjiagang Yangtze River Folk Art festival and the 2019 Yangtze River xiaoxi (storytelling with songs and dances) and xiaopin (Chinese skit) series and other drama activities.

The business trade week is a highlight during this year's festival. The activity will set up one main venue and 16 sub-venues covering a Zhangjiagang innovation development meeting, a launching ceremony for some key projects, the seventh Jiangsu Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and hydrogen industry exchange conference.

Zhangjiagang has hosted the festival since 2004. As an annual event, the festival aims to boost culture and art along the Yangtze River and provide local residents and visitors alike with a chance to gain a deeper understanding of Yangtze River culture.
