A cargo ship from Laos carrying copper concentrate ore was recently unloaded at Zhangjiagang port, Jiangsu province, the first time that the port has imported the material.

The cargo weighed 10,120 tons, with a worth of approximately $15.3 million. Copper concentrate ore is mined in the countries and regions of South America, Southeast Asia and Australia. China is the world's largest consumption of refined copper and for the lack of high-quality cooper domestically, China needs to import a large amount of refined copper ore every year.

Upon its arrival, the Zhangjiagang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau made a series of round deployment inspections to ensure the quality of the first batch of copper concentrate ore.
