The port city of Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province held a ceremony for health care awareness in Tangqiao town on Feb 28, hosting a series of lectures and consultations for local medicare policies and health care services.

The building of several new enterprises and schools to promote fitness among the city's residents was also announced at the ceremony.

Ding Fenghua, a resident of Zhangjiagang for 17 years, expressed her gratitude for the city's endeavor, "The city is always helping increase our health consciousness," Ding said.

Chen Hongwei, an officer of the municipal health and family planning commission, briefed participants about future plans and activities to be held to improve the health literacy of the public.

Participants were also gifted with health brochures and a medical kit consisting of basic first-aid tools and medicine.
