Transportation conditions, developed highways and waterway systems have provided residents from Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province with many conveniences in traveling around.

Locals can now expand their advantages further to the railway field, as the designs for the city's first railway station have been approved.

Zhangjiagang Railway Station hopes to be a complex of modern magnificence, featuring giant glass curtain walls inspired by the culture of the Yangtze River and the vigor of the city.

Located to the west of the under-construction Hutong (Shanghai-Nantong) Railway, the two-story station will cover an area of about 11,000 square meters. The first floor has been designated as a ticket hall, and the second floor is designed to be a waiting hall.

Space reserved for metro lines has been taken into account, offering passengers the ease shuttling between downtown and the station.

The construction of the Zhangjiagang section of the Hutong Railway has also achieved great success. The viaduct was finished this January, and the track laying and ballasting projects are planned to begin in May. With the integrated construction of the Hutong Railway estimated to be completed by the April 2019, Zhangjiagang residents will be able to enjoy a comfortable and convenient 30-minute journey to the metropolis of Shanghai.
