Watching movies and reading books have become the top choices for residents in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, during the past three-day New Year holiday.

According to Zhangjiagang Juxing Cinema, seven films hit the screen during the holiday, including four cartoons such as Khumba, Bicycle Boy and Brave Rabbit. The cartoons attracted many parents and children.

Three other films including The Taking of Tiger Mountain and Love on the Cloud were big attractions for young people. According to statistics, the Juxing cinema received over 2,000 movie-goers each day during the holiday.

In addition, book stores were another ideal place for residents to enjoy a leisurely holiday. Xinhua Bookstore held a book exhibition to display the best-selling books in 2014. During the three days, the daily visitor volume of Xinhua Bookstore exceeded 10,000, and sales volume rose 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
