After the May Day holiday, the tour price has largely dropped and the tourism market is experiencing an off-season before the summer holiday. This off-season is now proving to be the best time to travel without the high price tag and crowds.

Since the prices of airfare and hotels have been cut, prices for tour packages are also falling. Many agencies are offering tantalizing discounts. For example, a trip to the famous holiday resort Jeju Island in Korea has dropped by 300 yuan to approximately 1,800 yuan. An eight-day trip to Taiwan only costs about 3,000 yuan.

A woman surnamed Xu said she has decided to travel to Xiamen with her parents in May or June because the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists.

Qian Xiaoli, a staff in one of Zhangjiagang's travel agencies, said that July and August are the peak travel period when most students and teachers will take a tour for vacation. May and June are an off season that offers a lucrative option for people who have free time to spend after the holiday.

Qian also suggested that citizens should pay more attention to tourism quality, including catering and accommodations.
