Traditional folk customs during Spring Festival in Suzhou of Jiangsu province may evoke childhood memories for many local people. Such traditional events will be held in Wuzhong district in the city.

Dongshan town, with its beautiful natural scenery, continues to carry out traditional folk customs. During Spring Festival, Dongshan town will hold a series of celebrations, such as seeing off the kitchen god, worshipping ancestors and lifting up the brave warrior, a ceremony to pray for a good harvest in ancient times.

In Mudu town, events will be held around three themes – natural scenery, exquisite art work and delicious local food. Furthermore, visitors will have a chance to win free tickets to the town during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday by joining in promotions on weibo. Those sharing their photos in Mudu on weibo will get a present.

It used to be a custom for Buddhists to pray in a temple on the first and 15th of every month of the lunar calendar. On the first three days of the New Year in the lunar calendar, the Wangshan Mountain scenic area will open to the public for free so visitors can go to Baohua Temple to pray.

In Luzhi ancient town, there are not only performances of folk arts, but also promotions for local specialties. Visitors to the town will see local opera performances, lion and dragon dances, and Jiangnan-style musical instrument performances.

Those booking tickets online will get discounts of 30 percent and local maps.

Hotels, restaurants and shops in the town offer discounts of up to 20 percent off.
