A three-year plan to combat air pollution at Yangtze International Metallurgical Industrial Park in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province has been accomplished one year in advance thanks to an investment of 1.02 billion yuan ($167.96 billion).

Shagang Group and Farun Group are located in the park in the industrial town of Jinfeng. The park contributes a lot to the industrial and economic development of the city and puts great pressure on environmental protection.

On February 25, 2012, the town made a three-year working plan to combat air pollution.

Zhao Jianming, deputy mayor and secretary of the CPC Jinfeng town committee, said air quality in the area has met the three-year plan’s required standard within two years. However, more work is necessary for air quality improvement.

A new three-year plan from 2013-2015 was released this year that aims to continually improve the environment in Jinfeng town.
