A total of 17,000 tons of wool tops worth $220 million were exported from Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone of Jiangsu province between January to September, increasing 27.7 percent and 8.9 percent year-on-year, respectively, according to statistics from the Zhangjiagang entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau.
The number represents a positive trend for the industry.
As one of the main wool top export areas on the Chinese mainland, Zhangjiagang sees over 20,000 tons in exports of wool tops, accounting for 70 percent of the nation’s total.
Legal inspection on exported industrial products was cancelled on August 15, but the move does not mean lower quality requirements. The Zhangjiagang entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau continues to work to construct a centralized inspection demonstration area for wool products enterprises.
The bureau is trying to set up a new inspection procedure for wool tops export. It is focusing on wrapping, quality and loading of products, and also attaches great importance to disease inspection of wool tops.
