Harvest season is one month away. Rice planted at the Zhangjiagang Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park has increased 70 percent.

The park planted a total of 18 square kilometers of rice this year. According to Yu Dongliang, a technician at the park, the rice looks white, smells good and tastes excellent. The development of high-quality rice standards in China requires that the level of amylose content, a key factor of rice quality, can’t be too high or too low, otherwise the rice will taste too hard or too soft.

The agricultural park is located beside the Yangtze River. It is irrigated with water from the river. Li Yilou, vice-director of the agricultural branch of the park, said that in three years, a rice tracking system will be put into use. Customers will be able to learn the variety, place of origin and how many times pesticides have been used during the planting process.

The park has done a lot to establish its brand in recent years. The “Changyinsha” brand was voted as a top 10 popular rice brand in Suzhou in 2011.
