The construction of a project themed around flowers began in the Changxing modern agriculture demonstration district in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, on August 14.

The project involves government departments of tourism, water conservancy and community construction.

The building of roads and bridges will be finished before the end of September. In October, rape plants will be grown. Wooden houses and bridges, and an observatory, will be ready by March next year, marking the end of the project.

The project was proposed after the Changyinsha Rape Festival to enhance the festival’s popularity. Experts were invited to the district in June to make plans for the flower area.

The Changxing flower area covers 400,000 square meters and has four functional zones - entrance area, rape flower area, recreation area and agriculture area.

Three travel routes have been designed to feature different attractions, including a tea house, grassland, an observatory and a maze. The air will be filled with the scent of rape flowers at all these places.
