A State-level laboratory to test cooking vegetable oil has been approved by the general administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province.
Set up by the Zhangjiagang entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau, the lab is the second of its kind set up by the bureau, after a wood quarantine and inspection lab was founded.
Foreign trade in the city has developed quickly in recent years. In 2012, the city imported 1.9 million tons of cooking oil, accounting for 45.8 percent of the total amount of Jiangsu province and 17.9 percent in China. It is the seventh consecutive year that the number ranks among the top three in China.
Ports in Zhangjiagang have become important distribution centers of importing and exporting grain and oil.
Founding of the lab will improve the chain development of the food distributing center, logistics trade, local markets, and the grain and oil processing industry in the city.
