A total of 157 waster plastics processing factories have been closed in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province since a special inspection was carried out in May.

Zhou Weijun, deputy director of the Zhangjiagang supervision bureau, said there are many private factories with no licenses and very simple environmental protection equipment. The noise and other pollution can seriously harm people living near the factories.

For those with licenses, inspectors urge them to change their business scope and stop washing and processing waste plastics.
