Farmers in Daxin town of Zhangjiagang city, Jiangsu province, are trying to plant passion fruit for the first time in the city, local media reports.

It is a good ingredient to make juice and has high economic value, said Huang Dexing, an official of Daxin town. “We tried to plant passion fruit in a small amount this year, and it seems to be successful at present. If there is big demand, we’ll plant more next year.”

Passion fruit is native to Brazil. It has a juicy interior and good flavor. Some people call it the “king of fruit juice”. However in China, it is hard to find passion fruit in markets.
