Zhangjiagang holds Jiangsu Educated City Working Conference

Zhangjiagang hosted the Jiangsu Educated City Working Conference on July 4, with the aim of drawing on the experience of the province’s cities that have participated in the educated city campaign.

Zhou Qi, director of the Jiangsu press and publication bureau, introduced a document that served as a guide for the campaign to build an educated city. According to the document, those who read regularly are expected to account for 85% of the total population of an educated city. The average number of books read per person per year should be be no less than 8.The document also says that 30% of all the cities in Jiangsu will be named as models in the promotion of educated cities.

Before the conference, allthe city representatives visited Yonglian Library, Zhangjiagang Library, the self-service library in Laingfeng Community, Dongdu Textile Corporation and Zhangjiagang experiment school.

Yang Fang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Committee and Secretary of Zhangjiagang and director at the publicity department, accompanied the representatives during their visit.
