Expats living in Wuxi National Hi-tech District gathered on June 2 to watch folk performances and celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.

Sponsored by Wuxi National Hi-tech District People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the event attracted 150 participants from 15 countries, including Germany, America, England, France, Singapore and Japan.

They tried their hand at Chinese traditions like making zongzi, or pyramid-shaped glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in reed leaves, which are eaten while celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival, which this year falls on June 7, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month on the traditional Chinese calendar.

They also enjoyed a series of local cultural performances, including Wuxi opera and the erhu, and visited Wuxi national intangible cultural heritage sites to see Huishan clay figurines and Wuxi embroidery.
