Wuxi to promote new-energy vehicles

Wuxi has released a plan to promote clean-energy vehicles on Sept 9.

According to the plan, the city is going to promote 600 new-energy vehicles this year, thereby, bringing the total number to 3,000 by the end of 2017, with an increase of 400 vehicles annually.

Wuxi has also released details of its green-car subsidy program, designed to boost the city's auto industry and cut vehicle emissions. Subsidies will be given to those buying new-energy vehicles. Buyers of pure electric cars will receive up to 120,000 yuan ($18,840) as subsidies.

Statistics reveal that there are about 100 new-energy vehicles in Wuxi right now. They will be promoted in the fields of public transportation, sanitation, logistics and electricity. And the city is all set to build more electric vehicle charging stations in the near future, said an official from Wuxi Economic and Information Technology Commission.

The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
