Zhaosi Hall, or Xiangnan Hall, was the residence of the scholar – Cao Cha in the 7th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and was made into an ancestral temple by Cao family members in the 13th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is now a Ming remnant with the most complete and largest collection of materials with historical value in Jiangsu province, and is significant for Ming Dynasty research. It was an important national heritage protection site in 2006.

The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
