Two high school students from Wuxi have won places on a national science project with an out-of-this-world mission: To design and build a satellite!
Li Tingyu and Yu Xieqing, who both study at Tianyi High School, said they are excited to be part of the project, for which only 70 primary and secondary school students from across China will participate.

The satellite will be named "Shaonian Xing", meaning teenagers' satellite, because the aim of the project is to popularize science studies among young people in China.
Once it is finished, the satellite will have the names of all the young students who took part in the project carved on its side and should blast into orbit on Children's Day later this year.

After going through several rounds of competition in Wenchang, Hainan province, Li has been selected as one of the two general designers for the satellite.
"Being a general designer is a big challenge for me. I have to answer the questions raised by other students during the process of building the satellite and tell them which parts should be improved," said Li.
