AstraZeneca China held an opening ceremony for its logistic center in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND) on June 1. The center was built to store and dispatch pharmaceutical products from its global supply bases, Wuxi Daily reported.
The center's opening marks the formation of AstraZeneca's integrated system of regional production, logistics and sales.
It started construction in August 2014 with an investment totaling $40 million. Equipped with advanced and fully automatic warehouses, the newest logistics center will be operated by global logistics giant DHL.
AstraZeneca, one of the world's largest suppliers of prescription drugs and medical services, has had a production base in Wuxi since 2001 and has invested 3,653 million yuan ($555 million) in the site. The corporation also signed a cooperation memorandum with WND on April 28 to boost further cooperation and investment in its local base.
