The city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province has raised its minimum wage from 1630 yuan to 1770 yuan a month, from the start of 2016, covering areas of Wuxi, Yixing and Jiangyin city, according to the city's bureau of human resources and social security.

Meanwhile, the minimum pay of the non-full-time work increases from 14.5 yuan to 15.5 yuan an hour.

The bureau stipulated that the minimum wage should be paid as a baseline and other factors such as hazardous working environments or unsociable hours should be paid on top of that.

Work such as overtime, middle and night shifts, work in high and low temperatures, work underground and in poisonous or harmful environments, should all be paid in addition to the minimum wage.

Employers should pay no less than the minimum wage to employees after having paid reimbursements for any special working conditions and housing provident funds.
