On January 15, the chairman of the Capital Region of Denmark, Sophie Anderson, conducted a visit to Wuxi with 23 delegation members. Anderson, president of Baisekelun Commonwealth , and Pu Lizhi, Danish consul general in Shanghai, attended the visit. Wuxi Mayor Wang Quan met the delegation.
They attended and witnessed the signing and unveiling ceremony of the Contaminated Soil Management and Technical Cooperation Center, which was co-founded by the Denmark Soil Alliance and Wuxi City Development Group. Government officials including Wang Jinjian, vice-mayor of Wuxi, and Ye Qinliang, Wuxi secretary general, attended the ceremony.
Wang Quan introduced the history, culture and economic development of Wuxi. He said that the friendly ties between China and Denmark enjoy a solid foundation with the help of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. In recent years, the frequent delegation visits have further boosted the two regions' relations.
He hoped that mutual environmental protection, green economy and innovational development will be further promoted to attain win-win achievements under the joint efforts of Jiangsu province and the Capital Region of Denmark, especially between Wuxi and Baisekelun. Wuxi warmly welcomes more and more Danish companies to settle here, added Wang.
According to Sophie Anderson, the memorandum of the management and technical cooperation on contaminated soil, which was signed by representatives of the Denmark Soil Alliance and Wuxi City Development Group, is another creative cooperation between Wuxi and Baisekelun.
She said that they would exchange ideas and share experience and technology in the fields of environmental protection, pension and sustainable urban development between Wuxi and Danish government departments, institutions and enterprises to create a better living environment for both citizens.
The delegation also inspected the project of soil remediation on a former coking plant and visited Nanchang Street (a famous ancient street in Wuxi) during the visit.
