Taicang in Jiangsu province saw robust growth in foreign investment capital in August, local media reported on Sept 5.

According to the municipal administration and market bureaus, Taicang registered six foreign-invested businesses and recorded $139.97 million in foreign investment, up 50 and 166 percent, respectively.

The city has introduced four 100-million-yuan projects this year, including an R&D arm for Singapore's Chip Eng Seng Corporation.

By the end of August, Taicang housed 163 foreign-invested enterprises with an investment volume of over $30 million. Many of the enterprises are engaged in the city's emerging sectors such as smart manufacturing and investment consultancy.
