The China-Germany "Double-position" Teachers Training Center was recently inaugurated in Jiangsu Taicang Secondary Vocational School.

The Plan for National Vocational Education Reform, released in January by the State Council, mentions that various measures need to be taken to cultivate a group of teachers with two professional titles and establish 100 training centers for such teachers nationwide.

As a response to the reform, the Jiangsu Taicang Secondary Vocational School established the first "double-position" teachers training center in China with the aim of becoming one of the 100 State-level training centers.

As an important promoter of the famous dual vocational training system in Taicang, the Taicang school cooperated with the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) Institute, a German craft industry association, in building HWK's first training and certification base in China in 2017.

"Dual" in this context means a combination of practical, on-the-job training and theoretical education at a vocational school, ensuring a proper balance of theory and practice.

The base offers training classes towards four HWK professional certificates, including precision machinist, technicians skilled in operating industrial robots and mechanical and electrical engineers for industry and motor vehicles and enjoys an increasing influence in the Yangtze River Delta Region.
