An exhibition of oil paintings created by modern artists of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea opened in Suzhou of Jiangsu province on January 11, 2014.

The 46 exhibited works depict social and natural scenes not only in the DPRK, but also in China, especially Suzhou.

“I have been to many foreign painting exhibitions, but it’s the first time I’ve been to a DPRK oil painting show. It is fantastic for the artists to create paintings with Suzhou elements,” said a man surnamed Wang.

Fan Jing, curator of the exhibition, explained, “Many DPRK artists are interested in China and were sent to China to study. We gave them many chances to learn and get to know traditional Chinese arts.”

The exhibition will run through February 16.
