Suzhou Industrial Park in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, now offers snacks in addition to high-end restaurants. Suzhou snack shop owners are turning their focus on the area as little improvement is expected in the old area of the city.

The good environment, strong supporting facilities, plentiful customers and long business hours are incentives for owners to open new shops in Suzhou Industrial Park.

It is difficult to further improve the shops in the old areas of the city because of lack of parking and low consumption levels, despite the good location and business, said Yu Wenqiang, owner of chain snack shop “Da’a’er”. The owner of Aijiaolou Gao Fang said she is more confident in her industrial park shop for various reasons. For one, it is unlikely to be affected by road construction or transportation. The business of Gao’s shop on Renmin Road was affected seriously due to transportation and parking difficulties.

However, with more and more snack shops opening in the industrial park, competition has become fierce. In recent years, shop owners have cooperated with each other, opening chains or changing business models to encourage development.
