Gongs and drums reverberated to the sky. A boat, which was used by the bridegroom to escort his bride from her home to the wedding, stopped at Zhang’s House of Zhouzhuang. A bride wearing a cape, the ancient women’s dress, red robes, and embroidered shoes emerged. She and her bridesmaids board the boat. The bridegroom is waiting for his bride at the nearby Shen’s House.
