Jinxi, a beautiful water town in Kunshan, hosted its 2017 freshwater fish festival on Oct 28, offering visitors a freshwater fish feast.
Jinxi is a 2,000-year-old town with ancient history, profound cultural treasures and unique ecological features. The town is 50 percent water, and therefore Jinxi has an abundance of aquatic products. Fishermen often celebrate harvest in late autumn, giving thanks for their hard year's work with a fish festival.
This year’s festival took place in two venues in Jinxi: Zhudian Ancient Kiln Cultural Center and Wenchang Square. Folk performances, fishing bazars, free food tastings, auctions, and interactive games including shelling shrimps and tying up crabs were all part of the entertainment for the festival.
Kunqu artist Zhang Jun racked up a new career achievement during his performance at the Modern Drama Valley festival at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on May 18, performing in a venue that is several times larger than what he is used to.
39 American travel professionals were given a two-day tour of the 2,500-year-old city from Sept 13 to 14, including visits to famous sights like Tiger Hill and Shantang Street, as well as chances to experience traditional Chinese art.
