Dating back to July 21, 2015, "China's Venice", Zhouzhuang, and the city of Venice in Italy, held a joint tourism promotion event, "A Tale of Two Cities", at the Monaco Grand Hotel in Venice, Italy.

Zhouzhuang displayed its tourism specialties such as traditional Chinese cakes, hand-made model boats and exquisitely wrapped souvenirs. Venice, sometimes dubbed the "City of Water", expressed its appreciation in participating in the promotion, adding that eco-tourism concepts especially ought to be a priority in the management of tourist attractions, said a spokesman for the Venetian tourist board.
