Binhu district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, launched a tourism promotion conference in Xi'an, provincial capital of Shaanxi province, on March 1.

Representatives from Linshan Grand Buddha scenic spot, Turtle-head Peninsula scenic spot, CCTV Wuxi Film/TV Studio, as well as other famous attractions in Binhu district all gave brief introductions to their sites at the conference.

There are huge geographical and cultural differences between Xi'an, a city in Northwest China, and the eastern city of Wuxi. These differences make Binhu much more appealing to tourists from Xi'an, commented an official from Wuxi Binhu bureau of tourism.

"With the opening of the high-speed railway connecting Zhengzhou and Xuzhou, the travelling time from Xi'an to Wuxi has been shortened to 6.5 hours, which makes it possible for Xi'an tourists to go sightseeing in Wuxi by bullet train on weekends," he added.

The administrative committee of Wuxi Taihu National Tourism Resort also signed a strategic cooperative agreement with Xi'an's Qujiang New District during the conference and the two parties shall conduct more tourist cooperation and communications in the future.
