To respond to this year's National Traffic Safety Day theme "Refuse Dangerous Driving & Travel safely", the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province set up an association to fight drunk driving on Dec 2.

At Suning Plaza in downtown Wuxi, more than 20 catering enterprises and designated driving service companies signed an agreement to set up the association. They also signed a promotion banner and launched an initiative to call for anti-drunk driving.

A hot pot restaurant owner said that he would post promotion slogans in the restaurant to remind customers of the dangers of drunk driving. The restaurant will also provide a designated driving service.

According to the municipal traffic police department, a total of 5,954 people have been found drunk driving this year, more than 70 percent of whom were driving after drinking in restaurants or hotels. To eliminate the dangerous behavior, the city is calling for cooperation between catering enterprises and designated driving service companies.

The city also launched an activity at Wanda Plaza of Huishan District to help citizens expand their knowledge of traffic rules. The traffic police department launched various interactive activities including watching traffic accident videos, Q&A on road safety, and simulation of a drunk driving test.
