“We heard the stories you have read for us. Thank you.” two blind students from a special education school in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, were expressing their gratitude to people who had participated in a special campaign for blind children.

Participants in the campaign, which involved more than 800 students from six kindergartens, eight primary schools and three training institutions in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, read poems and sang songs for the blind children. A total of 20 audio books lasting three hours and 20 minutes were recorded and 113,129 yuan ($16,519) in funds were raised. The audio books and the funds had been donated to schools for the blind.

This non-profit campaign was launched by a team in Hohhot on Oct 15, 2015 to increase public awareness of the blind and help them to read more.

“Blind children live in a black world. We like to present a fairytale world in front of them by using our voices,” a team leader said at the launch of the long-term campaign.
