Young pianist wins trip to Croatia

A 10-year-old pianist named An Rongda, stood out from all his rivals at a piano competition that took place in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and won a free trip to Croatia, according to Baotou Evening News.

An Rongda, played a composition by Mozart at the final of the event. He won the top prize, receiving an electronic piano worth 6,000 yuan ($887) and a chance to attend arts courses in Croatia.

The 10-year-old is a grade four student from Baogang No 1 Experimental Primary School, who began playing piano five years ago.

The piano competition was launched to find excellent young pianists in the city as a tour by classical Croatian artist, Maksim Mrvica, will start with a concert in Baotou on Nov 25. And the winner of the competition will be invited to the concert.

Maksim Mrvica is a world famous Croatian pianist who plays classical crossover music and has hosted more than 70 concerts in China so far. This year’s tour will include 26 concerts and cover more than 20 cities in China.
