Housing tells story of shantytown clearence

Apartment buildings have now been built to resettle Beiliang residents, Oct 11, 2016. Beiliang, Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, used to be the largest shantytown area in China, with most of the buildings in the area built around 1949. After the renewal project launched by the government, houses covering an area of four million square meters were demolished and 109,000 residents were rehoused. [Photo/Xinhua]
