Achievements made by Changsha county over the past year enriched the government report delivered by Changsha Mayor Hu Zhongxiong at the fourth Session of the 15th Changsha Municipal People's Congress held on Jan 8.

The development breakthroughs of the Changsha Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, Changsha Huanghua Integrated Free Trade Zone, and Changsha Comprehensive Cross-Border E-Commerce Pilot Zone were reviewed and commended. The zones are also expected to make breakthroughs in integrated development, a key task for 2019.

The Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone was also heralded as an important industrial facilitator that accommodates advanced modern industries. It was recently recognized as one of the top 20 State-level economic development zones.

The park attracted more than 44 projects in 2018, each with an investment of over 50 million yuan ($7.4 million), and totaling more than 35.6 billion yuan. Key projects include the 10-billion-yuan Lens Technology Huanghua production center, 2-billion-yuan JD development of self-driving cars, and the 3-billion-yuan Guangzhou Mitsubishi Motors Corporation R&D center.

China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co's second industrial park has become operational, as has Changfeng Motor's new production center. SEG Automotive Products (China) Co also rolled out its Changsha production line, as its new factory began operating last May.

Industrial enterprises in the park above a designated size are expected to generate 10 percent more output value than last year, according to an expert.

Another major goal declared in the government report was achieving $5 billion in imports and exports via the Changsha Airport Economic Demonstration Zone. This should be achieved by concentrating international traders engaging in processing trade, seafood, and fruit, as well as cross-border ecommerce.

Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
